Gobs & Gears

The Demo Is Live

DEMO: ██████████ SHIPPED

The Gobs & Gears demo is on Steam. It's free, it's out right now and you can go and play it without reading the rest of this.

Here's what you get.

You start with one plot of land and a great deal of fog. You don't get a factory, you get the fog-eaten remains of one, and you dig it back out a building at a time. Smelty Hole, Dig Pit, Scout Tower, Gob Camp. Conveyor belts between them, then Junctions where the belts cross, then filters on the Junctions once you get sick of the wrong resource ending up in the wrong hole.

The opening plot, a single Smelty Hole on a small clearing with the Fog still closing in
Where you start. One plot, one hole, a lot of fog.

The demo runs from that first plot through to the end of crafting Tier 2. That's the full core loop: scout, route, convert, keep the Gob King off your back. What's cut is everything past Tier 2 and the ending, which is to say the BIG BOOM itself, which I would quite like you to pay for.

Now the part where I ask for things. Three of them, in the order that actually helps.

One: wishlist the game on Steam. This is the one that matters. Wishlists are the number Steam's algorithm reads when it decides whether to show a game to anybody. It is genuinely the single most useful thing you can do for this one-goblin sized studio.

Two: tell me what broke. The Discord is where demo feedback goes. What confused you, where you got stuck, which building you expected to work differently, what your framerate did when your belt network got stupid. I built this game as somebody who finds most factory games too much, so if it got overwhelming I want to know exactly which minute it happened in. That's the feedback I can actually act on before launch.

Three: hit Follow on the Steam page while you're there and leave a review. Any visibility for Steam Next Fest in October will help tremendously.

That's it. It's out, it's free, go break it.

Play the demo, wishlist the game, and sign up for dispatches from this Goblin. Next Dispatch Day is Monday.

GOBLINTEK is a one-person game studio. We own our shit.
